Goodwill Headquarters Building Acquired: Stage Set for Major Apartment Complex on East Carson

Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. has completed the acquisition of the Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania headquartered building located at 2600 East Carson Street.  In addition to the building, Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. purchased several surrounding lots that were owned by Goodwill.  All property was purchased for approximately $6.5 million.  The sale closed February 5, 2010. 

Burns & Scalo plans to convert the seven-story, 150,000 square foot structure into a 90-unit apartment building with 12,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor.

Burns & Scalo Plans to Build Downtown High-Rise on Smithfield Street

A newly formed entity lead by James Scalo of Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. recently acquired the 132,500 square foot One Smithfield Street building and adjacent parking lot for approximately $11.4 million. The sale closed on December 31, 2009.

James Scalo, president of Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. expects to begin a full marketing campaign early spring.  He plans to consider a full range of office, residential or hospitality uses.  The site could be appealing for a hotel, apartment building or student housing.  Another possibility would be to consider mixed-use combinations, perhaps developing an office and hotel under one roof.

Former Allegheny Conference CEO Retained by Burns & Scalo Companies: Langley Identifying New Business Opportunities

Both Burns & Scalo Companies - commercial real estate services and commercial, sheet metal and residential roofing have retained Michael Langley to help them identify new business opportunities in economic development and construction.

"Few people know the economic development and construction markets as well as Mike does or are as visible in those market segments outside of Western Pennsylvania as he is," said Jack and Jim Scalo, the owners of the two companies.

"We expect him to play a very positive role in our efforts to seek additional opportunities to compete for real estate development or large construction related projects in markets where we have not, as yet, been active."

Neville Island Revitalization Starts with a New Spec Flex-Office Building

A ground breaking took place on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM for Neville Commons, a new 25,120 square foot flex/office building located at 6104 Grand Avenue, Neville Island, Pittsburgh, PA.  Chuck Snyder, President of Neville Island Commons, LLC is the owner of the property.  Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. represents the owner as Owner's Construction Representation for the Development.

"This is the only speculative building under construction in Pittsburgh.  We do not need financing for this project and we are ready to roll.  You will see more new construction occurring on Neville Island," said Chuck Snyder.

Kelley Hoover, Director of Brokerage Services for Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. will be leasing the building. "This location is a home run for business's that need to be on a major highway and within minutes to the airport, downtown, Cranberry and Southpointe," said Kelley.

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council Relocating to the
Penn Building

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council has recently signed a lease for 5,500 square feet at the Penn Building located at 810 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.  The Arts Council intends to use the new location for their administrative and promotional services for their regional arts and cultural clientele.  Greg Schuster of Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. represented the owner in the transaction.

Pittsburgh Airport Chamber of Commerce Announces Plans to Relocate Corporate Offices

December 8, 2009

Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. will break ground in the Spring of 2010 on a new 53,000 square foot, office/flex, LEED Certified Green Building.  The Pittsburgh Airport Chamber of Commerce and The Chamber Enterprise Foundation have announced plans to relocate their offices to this location once construction is complete.

The site is located at the intersection of Industry Drive and McClaren Road with visibility from I-376.  The building will be a Class G Building utilizing green innovation and construction.

New Neighborhood Retail Plaza Coming to Bridgeville
October 12, 2009

Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc. has begun construction of Bursca Frontgate I, a 14,000 square foot neighborhood retail complex along Route 50, Washington Pike at the entrance of Bursca Business Park.
